Conor McGregor has absolutely ripped into Jorge Masvidal for pulling out of his fight against Leon Edwards, with the pair of UFC stars involved in a brutal exchange on social media.

Masvidal has been forced to withdraw from his welterweight bout against Edwards at UFC 269.

An undisclosed injury has seen the highly-anticipated bout between Edwards and Masvidal scrapped.

McGregor, who has previously been linked with a fight against Masvidal, pulled no punches in response to his withdrawal - saying he should be stripped of the BMF title.

In an explosive tweet, he wrote: "It's also Jorge masvadal birthday but he a b**ch for bottling the fight against Leon.

"F**k your 'injury' You sign to fight, you fight. Strip that belt from him that he never even won.

"Hoe in a housecoat. The f**k was that about as well? Last seasons Versace house coat hahaha wtf!"

Well, Masvidal wasted no time in firing back as he brought up McGregor's wretched past.

"I guess you're off your meds again barking up the wrong tree and don't be upset your client was about to be blessed with the biggest pay day of his life and now you don't get a dime off his whack ass," he tweeted.

"Too much man for you little guy go back to fighting old dudes in bars."

A blockbuster showdown between McGregor and Masvidal had been mooted during the latter's incredible winning streak in 2019.

Though, unfortunately for UFC fans, an Octagon meeting failed to materialise.

McGregor, of course, is on the mend after suffering a leg break in his last UFC fight.

As for Masvidal, he's on a two-fight losing skid having lost to UFC welterweight king Kamaru Usman on two occasions.
