We haven't seen Nate Diaz in the octagon since his loss in the rematch against Conor McGregor but soon we could see him back in a huge fight against George Saint-Pierre at UFC 227.

It's been nearly two years since Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor fought for the second time. The first time Diaz became the only man to beat the Notorious inside a UFC octagon, a distinction that he still holds. The Stockton fighter made the Irishman tap out with a reverse chokehold.

Just five months later and the pair were back in the cage for a second huge pay-day for both men with the Irishman getting some revenge with a points decision.

Since then Diaz has been biding his time and refuses to get back into the octagon unless the right offer comes along for him, and why should he. But maybe Dana White's got an offer too good to turn down.

Speaking to the UFC Unfiltered podcast, the UFC president confirmed that they're trying to put together a fight between Diaz and the returned George Saint-Pierre for UFC 227 at the beginning of August. White said:

"We are working right now to put together a Georges St-Pierre versus Nate Diaz fight. It is true. They would fight at 155 pounds.

"In my perfect world - nothing goes perfect in this world - Dillashaw vs. Garbrandt, GSP vs. Diaz would be the co-main, Gustafsson vs. Rockhold and Derek Brunson vs. Antonio Carlos Jr."

Bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw is already set to face former champion Cody Garbrandt,in a rematch for the title that Dillashaw took from his opponent at UFC 217 at the end of last year, but no other matches are confirmed for the Staples Centre in Los Angeles.

GSP stepped away from the sport at the end of 2013 after defending his welterweight title against Johny Hendricks but returned last year and bear Michael Bisping for the middleweight belt on the same night Dillashaw won.

The 36 year old Canadian soon relinquished the title and it's not yet been confirmed who is next on his list of opponents but Conor McGregor was talked about before his altercation with a bus.

GSP vs Diaz would be a bit tasty, now we just have to hope is happens.
