Logan Paul reveals Conor McGregor WWE conversations after UFC 329 loss

Logan Paul has suggested that Conor McGregor should follow his footsteps and go down the WWE route once he returns from injury.

On July 12, McGregor returned to the octagon for the first time in five years, but his UFC comeback ended miserably.

In his second fight against Max Holloway, 13 years after his first, the Irishman sustained a knee injury within 69 seconds, falling to the canvas after attempting a roundhouse kick.

The 38-year-old did attempt to carry on, but instantly hobbled after getting back to his feet, and referee Mike Beltran handed Holloway a technical knockout victory.

McGregor confirmed days later that he tore his meniscus and ACL in his right knee at UFC 239, similar to the injury he suffered against Holloway in 2013 on the opposite leg.

'The Notorious' is expected to be sidelined for nine months, confirming he will undergo surgery on the injury, with this setback only fuelling the former two-division champion to return for one final fight.

A rematch against Holloway is expected to be McGregor's next fight, even revealing on social media that the American was his preferred opponent.

However, WWE superstar Logan Paul has urged him to go down a different path, suggesting that McGregor is more of an entertainer than a fighter.

Speaking during a live episode of the IMPAULSIVE podcast at Fanatics Fest with former UFC Bantamweight Champion Sean O’Malley, Paul revealed that he "texted" his WWE boss about the possibility of coming against McGregor in WWE.

"I'll be honest with you. I texted my boss after Conor lost," the 31-year-old said. "I was like, ‘Bro, Conor’s cooked. Do something with it. Make a bag. Let me fight him. Big WWE star versus big WWE star, because that’s what he is now."

Paul believes a WWE match with McGregor could become one of the biggest crossover events in wrestling, although O'Malley didn't agree with that verdict and thinks the former UFC champion has one more fight left in him.

What Conor McGregor has said about joining WWE

McGregor is undoubtedly one of the most prominent fighters MMA has ever seen, holding records for the highest pay-per-view sales in UFC history.

Therefore, talk of him channelling his ability to entertain and join WWE has been a long-term prospect.

In 2016, McGregor famously issued a challenge to the entire WWE roster, boldly claiming that he could defeat any of them in a fight.

And when asked about potentially switching sports in 2024, the Irishman left the door open to future possibilities, stating: "You never know, let's see."

It's not uncommon for UFC stars to get involved with WWE, as Michael Chandler made an unexpected live appearance on WWE Monday Night Raw in February 2024.

Chandler then called out McGregor afterwards, challenging him to a WWE match, and history has now repeated itself with Paul.

Whether he chooses to eventually go down the wrestling route remains to be seen, but at the moment, his full focus is on recovering from his injury and fighting one last time in the UFC.
