Rooney is England's top goal scorer with 53 goals in 119 appearances for the Three Lions and is even money to bag another against the USA.

The match at Wembley against the States will be called 'The Wayne Rooney Foundation international'.

While the Wembley Arch will be lit gold in honour of Rooney's charity.

Rooney joined DC United in the summer and took them from the bottom of the MLS to the play-offs scoring 12 goals and seven assists along the way.

The 33-year-old was also made the captain of the side after just three games.

Speaking about coming back for the match, Rooney said: "I am truly humbled and hugely excited to play for England at Wembley again. I would like to thank Gareth Southgate and the FA for inviting me back and helping to support my foundation in the process.

"Playing for England was the greatest honour of my career, so winning my 120th and final cap will be particularly special moment for me. It's fitting that the match will be against the USA and I hope that both sets of fans enjoy the game."

Gaffer Gareth Southgate said: "This tribute to Wayne is a unique opportunity that is befitting of our nation's record goalscorer.

"We are fortunate that circumstances have allowed us to formally acknowledge Wayne's immense contribution to England in front of the Wembley crowd and against apt opponents given the recent impact he made in the US."

Rooney is 1/7 to start the match for England, while he is 7/2 not to start for the Three Lions.

The former Everton frontman is 12/1 to score a header and 20/1 to score from outside the area.
