ODDSbibleRacing's Best Bets From Easter Saturday's Action Across The UK

It's a very busy day's racing...

Easter weekend is famed for a host of race meetings taking place and Easter Saturday witnesses a bumper calendar in the racing world as 8 meetings occur in Britain and Ireland.

On the flat, racing Musselburgh, Brighton (Evening) and Kempton (All Weather) hosts cards, whilst over jumps, Haydock, Newton Abbot, Carlisle and Stratford (Evening) have meetings. Cork in Ireland hosts a flat meeting.

Here are Danny Archer's selections for a very busy day's racing...

Boycie not the Only Fools and Horses at Brighton

5:05: Brighton - Little Miss Daisy 7/2.

Has to prove she is as effective on turf but has been a revelation on the All Weather this season. I thought she should have won last time as she came from a long way back and just couldn't make up the ground.

5:35: Brighton - King Of Paris 6/4.

Switches yard from Richard Hughes to in my opinion, one of the biggest and best yards in the business Roger Varian. This half-brother to Sharja Queen sets a decent standard on those two runs and might be able to improve past the favourite who is worryingly a nine raced maiden, making me keen to take him on.

6:05: Brighton - Boycie 7/2.

Sets the standard on his game win at Doncaster last time. The fact that he is in form is a positive in itself in this event and off just a 5lb higher mark, he looks capable of winning again since being stepped up in trip by his canny handler.

7:05: Brighton - Il Sicario 5/2.

Johnston has sent this son of Zebedee a long way for this assignment. Gelded since finishing fourth at Beverley in June, he has to overcome a long lay-off, but he could just be ahead of the handicapper and he has Adam Kirby booked.

Wolf Sword can slay rivals at Carlisle

2:15: Carlisle - Wolf Sword 9/2.

A real admirable sort who always runs his race. This is ultra-competitive but he continues to run well. Finished second at this track in 2016 and he evidently takes his racing very well. This is a tough task but it would be no surprise if he put up another bold effort.

3:25: Carlisle - Special Wells 11/2 Each Way (1/4 odds).

Another admirable charge from Sue Smith's yard. Won well at Uttoxeter and Wetherby in December and January before coming unstuck in a better race at Newcastle last time. This doesn't look the strongest race on paper and he makes appeal at a price.

5:00: Carlisle - Lady Mix 8/11.

Nigel Hawke isn't bringing some of his horses up to Carlisle for no reason. Impressive on debut at Newbury, this four-year-old daughter of Fair Mix won by 15 lengths on that occasion and takes the beating based on that form here.

None to be one at Cork.

2:45: Cork - Zhukova 2/5.

Bound to a be a short price but she is the class horse in this contest and can form part of a win treble for our purposes.

3:55: Cork - Nonetheless 5/1 Each Way (1/4 odds)

Ran well on reappearance when fifth on reappearance at Leopardstown earlier this month. Should have learnt from that and first-time cheekpieces could also bring about further improvement.

Gold can plunder further riches by Conquering Haydock

2:05: Haydock - Ballybolley 9/2 Each Way (1/4 odds).

Been really frustrating in his past two races, particularly at Newcastle on his penultimate start as he absolutely tanked into contention before fading tamely. Again disappointing after not jumping with any real fluency, I'm giving him one last chance here. He won this race off a 4lb lower mark last term and I'm hoping he can improve for the return to the track.

2:40: Haydock - Behind The Wire 13/2 Each Way (SkyBet 1/5 for 4 places, 1/4 elsewhere for 3).

A progressive horse, Tom George's charge was a decisive winner at Newbury last time and he could be capable of shouldering a 9lb rise.

3:50: Haydock - Secret Door 10/3.

Did the business nicely last time and no reason why she can't be a big player again here if the dreaded bounce factor does not play a part.

4:55: Haydock - Conquer Gold 11/2 Each Way (1/4 odds).

Quite impressive last time and looks capable of again running a big race in this ultra-competitive heat.

Aloud to Laugh all over rivals at Kempton

2:35: Kempton - Robot Boy 7/4.

Ryan Moore rides David Barron's speedster who was impressive at Wolverhampton in February before running a cracker behind Encore D'Or (third in Lingfield Sprint) last time. He holds a good chance here.

3:45: Kempton - Laugh Aloud 11/8 Next Best.

Impressive when routing a decent field at Newmarket in September and that is by far the best form on offer with some really good fillies coming out of this race. If fully tuned up for her seasonal reappearance, this daughter of Dubawi, who is a half-sister to Group horse Debussy should take all the beating.

5:25: Kempton - Higher Power 5/2.

Decisive winner at Kempton in November in which he beat the winner of the All Weather Marathon event (Winning Story) at Lingfield yesterday. That has given the form a real boost and this five-year-old son of Rip Van Winkle was well on top at the line there. He should have more to come this year and looks an exciting horse.

Succession to win the War at Musselburgh

3:00: Musselburgh - Novoman 7/2.

William Haggas does not send many horses up to Musselburgh and three-year-old son of Sir Prancealot was a solid third at Doncaster in October.

4:40: Musselburgh - War Of Succession 10/11.

Second in what looks a decent Kempton maiden in September and this could finally be his time to get his head in front.

Tiger to roar at Newton Abbot

1:55: Newton Abbot - African Tiger 15/8.

Was running a mighty race when falling at the final hurdle at Wincanton and provided he is none the worse for that fall, he should win here.

2:30: Newton Abbot - Little Miss Poet 5/4.

Is evidently a quirky sort and didn't really see out the trip after pulling too hard last time. If she learns to settle in this event, she definitely rates as the one to beat.

3:40: Newton Abbot - Amour De Nuit evs NAP.

Reverts back to novice company after two good runs in handicaps and looks a worthy favourite.

5:15: Newton Abbot - Mon Parrain 10/11.

Still retains ability and run well at Warwick on his latest outing. He takes the beating.

Little to take massive Chunk out of rivals at Stratford

5:20: Stratford - Little Chunk 11/10.

Has to shoulder a penalty for win last time out but this is not a great race and he might be able to double up.

6:20: Stratford - How's Vienna 11/4.

Won well at Wincanton last time and he looks he has the potential to win again under Noel Fehily.

**NEW ADDITIONS**

1:40: Cork - Born To Play 9/4.

Ran well when fourth on debut at Leopardstown and should improve for that run.

3:15: Haydock - Limited Reserve 9/1 Each Way (1/4 odds).

Two impressive victories on last two starts and despite a 9lb rise, he is on the upgrade.

4:50: Kempton - Khafoo Shemeni 2/1.

Hannon and Moore are in scintillating form and this son of Dark Angel ran well to finish fourth in a Listed event at Doncaster in October. He should improve with age and looks to have a good chance here despite having something to find with some of the others in this field.

4:45: Newton Abbot - Plan Again 6/1 Each Way.

Johnny Farelly's charge was an excellent second returning from a long absence and if he avoids the dreaded bounce factor, he holds a live chance here.

2:00: Kempton - Dragon Teeth 10/3.

Ran better than the result suggested when always being up there at Doncaster. This track might suit.

10/3 Win Treble

2:45: Cork - Zhukova 2/5

5:00: Carlisle - Lady Mix 8/11

5:15: Newton Abbot - Mon Parrain 10/11

293/1 Each Way Lucky 15

1:55: Newton Abbot - African Tiger 15/8

3:00: Musselburgh - Novoman 7/2

4:55: Haydock - Conquer Gold 11/2

5:25: Kempton - Higher Power 5/2
