Ireland don't stand a chance today for one simple reason

Ireland are going to lose today. There's no doubt about it. Absolutely zero doubt.

"Ireland were really good in their first game," I hear you say. And yeah, that's fair enough. They were very good, and Belgium were far below their usual standard.

When I first looked at the betting for this fixture yesterday, I was flirting with the idea of backing Ireland. I'm talking full on short skirt and low-cut top flirting, too - not just a flick of the hair.

So what has changed my mind? Why am I so convinced Ireland will lose? One simple reason, really.

Jon Walters, arguably the greatest player in world football, isn't playing, and I just think Ireland will struggle to compete without the one or two billion goals he would have provided.

I couldn't really be bothered finding out exactly why he isn't fit, but it's safe to assume it's some kind of back strain, caused by lugging those monumental testicles around all day and night.

Anyway, with all of this in mind I'm going to back Belgium over 1.5 team goals at 5/4 as it represents slightly better value than the Belgium win.

I'm also lumping my mortgage on Jon Walters to win the Ballon d'Or at 1/5000, but that's another story for another day.
