There's an eye-watering prize on offer in the Wimbledon men's singles final for Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz.

Djokovic and Alcaraz beat Jannik Sinner and Daniil Medvedev respectively to book their place in this year's final.

The Serbian will be gunning for his eighth Wimbledon title while the Spaniard is seeking to claim his first Wimbledon championship.

And they are not just competing for the iconic golden trophy but also a huge financial prize.

The winner of the men's singles final will receive a whopping £2.35 million, which is the joint-highest amount of any victor ever.

Djokovic earned the same cash payout in 2019 when he defeated Roger Federer in a epic five-set clash.

In 2021, the first year Wimbledon returned after Covid-19, the prize money dropped to £1.7 million. Last year, it was £2 million.

The prize money has risen 17 per cent this year, with the runner-up in line to collect a cool £1.175 million.

As for the losing semi-finalists, Medvedev and Sinner both earned a healthy £600,000.

Current world No.2 Djokovic will become the first tennis player ever to surpass £130 million win or lose today.

The 20-year-old No.1 won his first major in 2022 when he beat Casper Ruud to win the US Open championship.

He picked up a massive £1.986 million for his victory at Flushing Meadows.

Speaking ahead of their final, Djokovic said his meeting with Alcaraz is 'probably the best final' there could have been.

"He's hungry. I'm hungry, too, so let's have a feast," said the 36-year-old.

"Judging by the performances we have seen from all the players, I think this is probably the best finals we could have."

The 23-time Grand Slam winner added: "We are both in good form. We're both playing well.

"This is probably the most anticipated finals I guess from the beginning of the tournament, from most of the people."
