Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are the two best tennis players in the world at the minute, as seen in the ATP rankings. The pair have enjoyed a great rivalry over recent seasons, and now the Spaniard has opened up on their unique relationship.
There appears to be a healthy rivalry between the young tennis stars as they have shared the last nine Grand Slam titles; however, they have not squared off in one of the major finals for over a year, which saw Alcaraz beat the Italian.
Tennis fans will be disappointed that Alcaraz and Sinner will not have the chance to face each other at Roland Garros, as the Spaniard is ruled out with a wrist injury.

While they have contested nine finals to this point in their careers, the pair are good friends, which may be a refreshing take on tennis rivalries, as the trio of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic didn’t get on as well as they do now that two of them have retired.
Now, in conversation with Vanity Fair, Alcaraz has explained the relationship between him and his rival, Sinner.
The Spaniard said: “We’re showing the world that we can be on court and give our best and try to do the most possible damage to the other while playing and try to beat each other, and then, off court, just be two guys who get along really well.
“We help each other give our best. We are fighting for the same goal, but there’s no need to hate each other because we want the same thing.

“When you are competing at this level, having a close friendship is complicated.
“It’s not comparable to the historic rivalries that have happened in tennis, because we both have so many years ahead. Hopefully, we will continue playing against each other many times, at many finals, and that we will split the greatest tournaments.”
Alcaraz will be able to not worry about the relationship of the pair due to his injury and can watch Sinner attempt to take the Spaniard's French Open crown later this month.
