Carlos Alcaraz will receive a special trophy even if he fails to win the ATP Tour Finals.

As the 2025 season edges towards a close, the top eight players of the year are currently involved in the ATP Tour Finals event in Turin, Italy.

This year, the event is contested between Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Alexander Zverev, Ben Shelton, Taylor Fritz, Alex de Minaur, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Lorenzo Musetti.

Musetti managed to secure a place in the tournament after Novak Djokovic withdrew due to injury.

So far, Sinner has secured his place in the last four after beating Auger-Aliassime and Zverev.

Meanwhile, Alcaraz's passage to the next round was sealed after Australian De Minaur got the better of Fritz on Thursday afternoon.

The Spaniard also made sure he will finish as the group winner and avoid playing Sinner in the semi-final after beating Musetti on Thursday night.

Alcaraz was in fine form as he secured a 6-4, 6-1 win over Musetti, earning himself a special trophy.

After yet another stellar season on the tour, the Spaniard only needed one more win at the ATP Tour Finals to secure himself as the Year-End No. 1.

A special trophy will be presented to the player who finishes the year as the world No.1.

Alcaraz sealed the deal at the first time of asking by winning against Musetti.

Tennis journalist Jose Morgado stated that the ceremony to hand Alcaraz the special trophy will happen on Friday.

He wrote: "Official. A ceremony will happen tomorrow, not today."

Alcaraz's closest challenger was Sinner, who needed to win the tournament undefeated and also required Alcaraz to lose against Musetti and in the semi-finals.

Speaking recently about the Year-End No. 1 fight, Alcaraz said: "I will try not to think about it.

"It’s going to be a really big match for me. I will try not to let the nerves play a bad time in the match. I will think about my goals, about feeling much better than today."

History made at the ATP Tour Finals

In the men's doubles, Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool made history by becoming the first all-British pair to be crowned Year-End ATP Doubles No.1.

Cash said: "It's been one crazy year, that's for sure. We put an awful lot of work in in the offseason. (We) couldn't have done it without everyone there in the box, also my family up there in the corner."

Glasspool added: "We wouldn’t be here without our box and our team - They've supported us for many, many years."
