Tennis fans have been left furious after a journalist asked a 'disgusting' question to Cameron Norrie about fellow British star Emma Raducanu at Wimbledon.

Norrie reached the fourth round at Wimbledon on Friday, defeating Mattia Bellucci in straight sets on Court 1.

The Brit made it all the way to the semi-final back in 2022, losing to Novak Djokovic, and will have eyes on matching or bettering that run this time around.

Raducanu, meanwhile, lost in straight sets 7-6, 6-4 to world number one Aryna Sabalenka on Centre Court.

Despite the result, the 22-year-old put in an excellent display and led 4-2 and 4-1 respectively in each set before Sabalenka powered back.

Speaking after the match, Sabalenka stated her belief that Raducanu will 'soon be back in the top 10' of the WTA rankings.

Prior to the match getting underway, fellow Brit Norrie took part in his post-match press conference - where he was asked a bizarre question by one of the journalists in attendance.

The journalist asked: "Some of the gossip has been about who Emma Raducanu is dating. Can I ask if you're dating her, and we can get to the bottom of this please?"

Norrie, clearly taken aback, asked: "Sorry?"

The journalist then doubled down on the question, before Norrie replied: "I'm not. You can ask her. I don't know."

The journalist has since been slammed by fans, with many asking for them to be banned from future press conferences.

One wrote: "Wholly inappropriate and incredibly disrespectful and distasteful to Emma Raducanu and Cam Norrie."

A second agreed: "Disgusting. Utterly disrespectful."

A third said: "Cam Norrie being asked about Emma Raducanu's dating life in his Wimbledon press conference is a new all-time low."

A fourth stated: "Whoever asked that question should be banned for life from the tournament."

And a fifth noted: "I mean his girlfriend was sitting watching the match."

During the tournament, there have been rumours about the relationship between Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz since the pair were confirmed as mixed doubles partners for the US Open tournament.

Both players have been forced to repeatedly deny those rumours, having been friends for a number of years.

Where to buy last-minute Wimbledon tickets

The Wimbledon ballot may have closed for another year, but it’s not too late to buy advance tickets if you know where to look.

If you don’t mind splashing out on the experience, Seat Unique has the option to book ‘VIP Debenture Behind The Server’ and ‘VIP Debenture Front 5 Rows’ tickets.

These tickets offer 'unparalleled views' of the court, so you won't miss out on any of the action.

As for resale tickets, you'll want to head over to StubHub and Viagogo.
