Alex Eala already has list of huge sponsors and career earnings at age of 21

Alex Eala has been branded as the next Serena Williams, and her list of career earnings and sponsors at just 21 is already staggering.

The 21-year-old claimed her first WTA Tour title in Washington last week, decimating World #3 Jessica Pegula in a two-set-to-one victory. The Filipino athlete delivered what is often referred to as a 'bagel', winning 6-0, in the deciding set against her American opponent.

Following this WTA 500 victory, Eala rose to 20th in the world rankings and will play in the Round of 16 in Toronto tomorrow — a WTA 1000 event.

The 21-year-old will face off against Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, who won Olympic Gold for her nation in 2021 and has claimed ten Tour singles titles.

Eala's meteoric rise to stardom can be credited to her performances against the best the WTA has to offer. At Wimbledon earlier in the season, where the Filipino lost in the Round of 16 to Italy's Jasmine Paolini, ranked 15th in the world, Eala took out defending champion Iga Swiatek in the match prior.

Having notched her first Tour title win in DC, the 21-year-old will head to the US Open with the possibility of breaking through at Grand Slam level, at the same tournament that Emma Radacanu shocked the world by winning in 2021.

At such a young age, Eala's ascent to fame is also accompanied by a staggering list of sponsors and career earnings, with former British #1 Greg Rusedski describing the youngster as having "only one other person I can compare her to: Serena Williams."

Eala has won $2,901,015 throughout her career, and would pass the $3 million mark with a WTA 1000 victory in Toronto.

The 21-year-old has already sealed her place in the sport's 300 all-time highest earners; however, her many sponsorship deals will likely have her placed beyond the outskirts of that list.

Eala has secured deals with Nike, Globe Telecom, Bank of the Philippine Islands, Milo Philippines, and Locally Juice, with other luxury brands rumoured to be in aggressive pursuit of a young athlete who feels primed to become a multi-Slam winner.

Against top ten opponents, the Filipino athlete has prevailed against Paolini, Coco Gauff, Elena Rybakina, Elina Svitolina and Swiatek twice each, and Pegula.

But the 21-year-old's appeal, as it often does with this sport's greatest players, comes off the court just as much as it does on it.

Rusedski's comparison between Eala and Williams, arguably the greatest female tennis player in history, drew a parallel between the jaw-dropping volume of fan support that the 21-year-old is drawing as she traverses the WTA's many international stages.

"Wherever Serena played, everybody was cheering and going for her, no matter where she played," noted the former British #1. "Now we are seeing this happening with Eala. The Filipino population follows her... she is the biggest sports star in the country by far, of any male or female superstar they have."
