Tennis fans have been reacting on social media after seeing a teenage prodigy who plays with no backhand.

This week, the 2026 season gets underway Down Under with plenty of big-name stars taking part in the United Cup.

The likes of Taylor Fritz, Coco Gauff, Stan Wawrinka, Iga Swiatek and Hubert Hurkacz have all been playing in recent days as they gear up for the first Grand Slam of the season.

From January 12, all eyes will be fixated on Melbourne as the Australian Open gets underway.

Jannik Sinner and Madison Keys head into the tournament as the defending champions after their glorious runs last year. Meanwhile, the likes of Carlos Alcaraz, Aryna Sabalenka, Jessica Pegula and Novak Djokovic will also be among the favourites.

In recent days, a 14-year-old future tennis star has caught the eye after he was seen playing with no backhand.

From footage that quickly went viral on social media, young Lucas Herrera Sanchez was seen playing shots with a right forehand, followed by a left forehand.

Reacting on social media, one fan said: "Switching hands like that takes crazy coordination and confidence."

Another tweeted: "Pretty solid advantage!"

A third fan added: "Kid's playing tennis on hard mode."

Someone else wrote: "Cool trick for juniors, but will this ambidextrous no-backhand style hold up against pros hitting 120mph serves and heavy topspin? Switching hands looks fluid now, but at ATP level it might leave him exposed on recovery. Intriguing though."

A fifth commented: "That's real tough for his opponents to handle, lmaooooo why aren't there more players like this?"

Another fan said: "That looks real cool right now, but worrying moving forward maybe? Will he be able to do it on the pro tour where everything is so much quicker. Looking forward to following his progress."
