Andrew Johns Under Fire For 'Classless' And 'Disgraceful' Post-Game Comments

The New South Wales legend was accused of being 'petulant' and a 'sore loser' when he swore on live TV following the Blues' loss.

Andrew Johns has come under fire for an outburst he made during the State of Origin post-match show.

Not only did the rugby league legend give pretty blunt responses to the questions coming his way, but he also swore on live television.

If truth be told, he just didn't look like he wanted to be there and is now copping it from fans as a result.

New South Wales had just suffered a devastating loss at the hands of Queensland in what will go down as an instant Origin classic.

The game itself had everything.

There was huge hits, tantalising tries and even a bit of biff to get everyone out of their seats at Suncorp Stadium with the score finishing 22-12 in favour of the home side.

But instead of simply sitting back and applauding the herculean effort from both sides, Blues great Joey Johns was clearly hurting from the loss and his feelings were laid bare during Channel Nine's coverage.

Appearing alongside Maroons icons Cameron Smith and Paul Vautin, Johns looked visibly frustrated and wasn't providing much when it came to his expert analysis.

But when he was asked to put his finger on exactly where New South Wales went wrong in the action-packed thriller, the league legend couldn't hold it in much longer.

“Why? Well, you won the big moments” Johns replied.

“Now we have to listen to all the bulls**t from you (Queenslanders) for the next 12 months. It drives you mad.”

Cameron Smith's face said it all.

To be fair to him, his comments probably reflected how most Blues fans felt at the time.

But when you're on live TV, you've got to pull it together.

People were quick to call Joey out for it too,

2GB radio host Jim Wilson lead the chorus of critics, tweeting: “Wow, Joey Johns, what a bloody disgrace. Sore loser! C’mon Joey, really?”

“Sure be upset, but that was just petulant. I love Joey’s analysis and passion but it was spoilt brat material.”

Cricket commentator Roger Oldridge added: "If you want to see a sore loser, Andrew Johns on ch9 post match is the No.1 seed. Hope they didn’t pay him for that ‘effort’."

While retired Aussie cricketer Damien Martyn said: "How much is Andrew Johns a sore loser. What a role model and well done Channel 9. #disrespectful #loser #havesomerespect."

Elsewhere, Fox Sports simply labelled it "petulant" in one of their articles, while News.com questioned whether it was a "classless act".
