A contestant on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire swore after losing a huge sum of money on a sport question.

Justin Beattie, from Bristol, appeared on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire in a bid to open his own pub with his potential winnings.

And Justin, who spent 25 years as a submarine safety engineer, got off to a great start when he answered nine questions in a row without using any of his lifelines.

But his quest to winning a life-changing amount of money came to a crashing halt when he was confronted with a sport-related £32,000 question.

Host Jeremy Clarkson asked: "Which sportsman retired aged just 26, before making an unsuccessful return to competition eight years later?"

Justin had a choice of four answers, including Bjorn Borg, Alain Prost, George Foreman and Carl Lewis.

He guessed track and field legend Lewis, which was the incorrect answer.

The correct answer was actually former tennis star Borg, who unexpectedly retired from the sport before making an unsuccessful comeback.

After guessing incorrectly, there was a long silence as Justin placed his hands against his mouth before uttering a string of expletives that were bleeped by ITV.

Delivering the bad news, Jeremy said: "You've just lost £15,000. I'm heartbroken. Well, not as much as you are."

Jeremy told the stunned contestant: "That's a first. Nobody's ever said that," before Justin walked off stage.

That meant he lost a whopping £15,000 and walked away from the show with £1,000 after failing to reach the next 'guaranteed point' which was £32,000.

Justin had hoped to open a micropub with his potential winnings.

"They tend to serve local real ale from within a 20 or 30 mile radius," he explained. "They're really stripped down and basic, with casks and kegs of real ale and local cider. And I really fancy that."
