Whilst Nate Diaz has stolen most of the UFC headlines since March his brother Nick has been waiting for his 18 month ban to be lifted before he can compete again. The 33 year old got an early chance to fight when he was attacked in a Las Vegas nightclub this week.

Former Strikeforce welterweight champion Diaz hasn't fought since January 2015 when his bout with Anderson Silva, which he originally lost, was made a no contest when both men were banned for failing drugs testing. Silva for androstanolone and androsterone steroids and Diaz for marijuana metabolites.

On Tuesday night Diaz was enjoying himself in Hyde nightclub, the Bellagio hotel's nightclub, when he bumped into someone in the toilets. After apologising the man decided not to accept it instead grabbing three of his mates with the four men kicking and punching Diaz.

The Stockton native took a nasty cut to the head but other than that wasn't too badly hurt having got a few strikes in on his 'opponents' and hit some chokeholds on the four men. Diaz told TMZ "I didn't start it. I don't even think these guys knew who I was." and the club confirmed the UFC star wasn't the man to start the fight.

Diaz was only acting in self defence but refused to press charges claiming that the perpetrators "got the worst of it."

His 18 month suspension is now over and the American is set to make his return to the UFC at some point in the near future although he has ruled out a fight for Tyron Woodley's welterweight title instead wanting to focus on big name fights.
