Michael van Gerwen hit two perfect legs on this day three years ago to become only the second player in the history of darts to hit two nine-dart finishes in one match.
The Dutchman produced a phenomenal performance to beat Ryan Murray in the third round of the UK open qualifying event in Wigan

Van Gerwen came very close to throwing back-to-back nine-darters in the PDC World Darts Championship during his match against James Wade in 2012.
Though he did execute seventeen perfect darts in one of the most extraordinary moments in 'arras history, that is still talked about in hushed tones today.
16-time world champion Phil Taylor was the other player to hit a pair during his victory over James Wade in the 2010 Premier League Darts final.

In typical Taylor fashion, he looked calmer than ever as he stepped up to complete his second, and most impressive, nine darter. "I've won every title in the PDC and I don't think I can ever do better than this" Taylor said after the match.
