WWE Launch WWE 2K17 With Return Of A Wrestling Legend

So that's where he's been all this time...

While the days of the Attitude Era and the Monday Night Wars are long gone, they are still a golden age of wrestling history and one of the reasons for that was a man named Bill Goldberg. The Atlanta native tore his way through WCW, delivering spears and jackhammers to anyone foolish enough to stand in his way. And now, 12 years on from his last appearance in a WWE ring, Goldberg is back, helping to launch 2K's latest edition of their WWE video game franchise, WWE 2K17.

The WWE teased fans with pictures of a mysterious 'hatch' in the build up to the release of the official trailer for the new game, before unleashing the big reveal as the former WCW and WWE World Heavyweight Champion made his dramatic return to WWE screens after over a decade away.

Speaking of his involvement with the franchise, the owner of the biggest winning streak in WCW history (173-0) said:

"After 12 years away from the business, I'm incredibly honoured to work with WWE and 2K while following in the footsteps of such greats as Ultimate Warrior, Sting and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

"My son was a big part of this coming together, and I can't wait for him to see his dad kicking ass in a WWE ring through the magic of video games. I encountered the likes of The Rock, Triple H, Brock Lesnar and Ric Flair during my WWE career, and now through WWE 2K17, I'll be taking on the biggest and baddest Superstars of today - showing them once and for all that I am still 'Da Man!'"

Whether this means that 'Da Man' is planning on stepping foot back inside the squared circle or not remains to be seen, but his appearance in the advert has set tongues wagging among the WWE roster on social media. Also, was that a Suplex City sign we spotted in the advert? Is big Bill heading straight for Brock Lesnar? If he is, we hope any potential match they have is better than their effort at WrestleMania 20.
