TNT forced to cut cameras after England star suffers terrifying Commonwealth Games fall

TNT Sports cut their cameras after a Team England gymnastics star suffered a terrifying fall during a Commonwealth Games event.

Gabriel Langton, 19, was taking part in the men's team gymnastics final on Friday night.

But during his final rotation, Langton missed his catch on the three-metre high metal horizontal bar and fell, landing head first on the mat.

The competition was immediately suspended so that Langton could receive medical treatment.

He was placed in a head and neck brace before being transported out of the arena on a stretcher to warm applause from the crowd in Glasgow.

According to BBC, Langton was conscious and able to move his arms and legs, while he was also communicating with doctors.

It has been subsequently been reported that he is in a stable condition in hospital.

Following a stoppage of around 20 minutes, the team final resumed, with Langton's team-mate Luke Whitehouse taking his place on the final rotation.

Speaking to reporters after the fall, Whitehouse said: "From what we've heard, he's doing OK. Gymnastics is such a dangerous sport and things like this remind us of that."

Langton was included in the Team England squad this week as an injury replacement for three-time Olympic champion Max Whitlock.

Whitlock, who was on punditry duty for TNT Sports when the incident occurred, explained what happened: "It was a horrible fall on the high bar. Both hands came off the bar, which is unusual on a skill like that, and then coming down onto his head from that height... it wasn't nice to watch. It wasn't nice to be in the arena. The atmosphere, you could feel a big drop in it.

"It's one of those things that, when it happens in any kind of competition or sport, the whole atmosphere changes. It puts a lot into perspective."

Team Canada went on to win gold in the men's team final, with England taking silver and Australia taking bronze.

Team England issue update after horror fall

In a brief update released following Langton's fall, Team England stated: "We are grateful to the medical teams who responded immediately to provide assistance.

"He has been taken to hospital and we will share more information when it is available."

Glasgow 2026 organisers, meanwhile, said: "We are aware of an injury to one of the athletes at the gymnastics session this evening.

"The welfare of athletes at the Games is our absolute priority. Medical teams at the venue responded quickly to the incident. We will not be providing any further update."
