A Ferrari supercar took on a championship go-kart in a one-on-one race - and the results were eye-opening.

In go-karting, the KZ kart is used in the elite championships, and is the primary gearbox class.

It is the most powerful machine in go-karting, and can reach a top speed of 155km/h with its 50 horsepower engine.

In addition, it can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just nine seconds.

As a result, TikTok user Karting Club Vendrell decided to pit the KZ against a Ferrari supercar in a race to see which one was faster.

The choice of opponent was the Ferrari 296 GTB, which accelerates to 100km/h in just 2.9 seconds.

The supercar can hit a stunning 205mph, and comes in at a cost of over £200,000 if you had more than a spare few pounds to buy one.

Given those statistics, you would expect the supercar to easily beat a go-kart in a head-to-head 'drag race'.

However, the drag race took place on a permanent go-karting circuit, which is - as you guessed - specifically designed for go-karts.

And with the sizeable weight difference between the two vehicles, the run down to turn one and the subsequent exit would have to be handled differently for both.

Still, the actual result may surprise some viewers.

It was the go-kart that got a better launch, but the Ferrari supercar was able to pull up alongside heading into the first turn.

However, while the go-kart is nimble enough to take the corner without too much brake pressure, the supercar had to break much earlier.

If you were running a drag race, the Ferrari would have taken the flag first - but not by as much distance as you might expect, given the power difference between the two vehicles.

In another video, the KZ kart took on a Lamborghini Aventador - and the results were even more emphatic, with the kart winning comfortably.
