What's Next For Ronda Rousey After Amanda Nunes Knocked Her Into 2017?

WWE, maybe?

You may have noticed that 2016 claimed its latest victim in the early hours of the morning, as Ronda Rousey was sent into a different area code during her return to the octagon.

The former queen of UFC was pummelled into a pile of debris, which forced her to do her best Bambi on ice impression, by Amanda Nunes.

The victory was even more emphatic than her loss to Holly Holm 13 months ago, given that the build-up was huge. In fact, it was pretty comical that all that anticipation led to a 48-second knockout. But I guess at some stage we've all ridden a wave of excitement, anticipation and adrenaline only for it to come to a disappointing, premature end.

Ronda Rousey Gets Destroyed By Amanda Nunes.

It's not immediately clear what's next for Ronda, but a lot of people believe that she's done in UFC. This may be the case, or she could swallow her pride and return again with the intentions of rebuilding her reputation.

There are obviously other MMA promotions who would jump at the chance to sign up the 29-year-old should she choose to flee the monumental global power of Dana White's kingdom. Bellator and Cage Warriors spring to mind, despite it being a huge step down.

Another thing that could possibly loom on the horizon for the former bantamweight champ is somewhere that has deep connections with UFC - WWE.

Obviously it's nowhere near as simple as her just saying she's off to try her hand at wrestling but, with some training, both in the ring and on the mic, it could be great.

She's already appeared at the company's flagship event, striking up a partnership with The Rock at Wrestlemania 31 to fuck over Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. While it was a short segment, and clearly one to bring in viewers, it does show that the big dogs in the company are happy to work with the fighter.

Furthermore, she was obviously given instructions to keep her expression the same, meaning there was a small element of acting to her role back in 2015.

And although it's a tenuous link - she does have the experience in modelling and, erm, flaunting her body, which is something that is very important in WWE.

It wouldn't be such a farfetched idea. Ken Shamrock began the UFC/WWE crossover back in the '90s when he jumped ship from UFC with his moniker, 'The World's Most Dangerous Man', to become a big part of the attitude era.

Since then the likes of Bobby Lashley, Dave Bautista, CM Punk, and, most famously, Brock Lesnar have gone backwards and forwards between MMA and wrestling.

There is a lot of talk about Ronda having to retire given the embarrassment of her loss, and this is just one of the avenues she could travel down. I mean, she couldn't do porn. Ronda Arouse Me has that path covered.
