Drake places eye-watering bet ahead of Super Bowl as fans fear ‘curse will strike again’

Popular music artist Drake has placed an eye-watering bet on the Super Bowl as fans fear his curse will strike again.

The 2024 Super Bowl will be contested between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada on Sunday.

Defending champions Chiefs won the 2023 edition after beating the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 at the University of Phoenix Stadium but will head into the match as the slight underdogs, with the 49ers the favourites to win the trophy.

Ahead of the clash, Canadian rapper Drake has placed a huge bet on the outcome of the match.

Taking to social media, Drake posted a picture of his bet slip with a caption that read: “I can't bet against the Swifties.”

Drake has placed a $1.15 million bet on the Chiefs winning the Super Bowl.

Reacting on social media, one fan said: “The Drake curse put ya money on the niners folks lol.”

Another tweeted: “Drake has money on the Cheifs, his strike be striking once again.”

A third fan added: “Everyone knows the 49ers are winning, Drake already cursed the Chiefs by betting over a million on them. The Drake curse is real!”

Someone else wrote: “If Mahomes beats the Drake curse this ring counts as two.”

A fifth commented: “I’m sick, I bet the Chiefs too so now I’m riding with the Drake curse.”

Over the years, Drake has placed bets on some of the biggest events in the world of sports.

For example, the rapper lost $1 million after betting on

Ahead of the much-anticipated match-up, former Chiefs player Tyrann Mathieu said: “I won the Super Bowl ring with Kansas City and it's hard for me to bet against Patrick Mahomes. As long as he's playing, as long as he's healthy, he's tough to stop.”
