USA basketball appeared to aim ANOTHER brutal dig at Noah Lyles after winning gold at the 2024 Olympics.

USA claimed a fifth straight gold after beating hosts France 98-87 in Saturday's men's basketball final.

A star-studded American team that included NBA legends like LeBron James, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant were too much for the French, who boasted Victor Wembanyama in their ranks.

Golden State Warriors star Curry delivered a masterful showing, producing multiple three-pointers as he scored an impressive 24 points.

It comes just days after Lyles could only manage bronze in the men's 200m final, having won gold in the men's 100m final.

The US sprint star revealed he tested positive for COVID-19 in the aftermath of the race, which seemed to prompt the USA basketball team into action on social media,

And after securing gold against France, USA basketball return to X with another post in what appears to be aimed at Lyles, who once took aim the NBA's notion of branding its winners as 'world champions'.

After their victory, USA basketball posted an image of their team at the medal ceremony, accompanied with the caption: "Are we the World Champs now?"

An apparent swipe at Lyles' comments at the end of the World Championships in August 2023.

USA also beat France at the Tokyo Olympics as they made it five wins in a row, having also captured gold in Beijing, London and Rio de Janeiro.

Speaking after the game, coach Steve Kerr praised Curry's stunning performance on the court.

"Stephen ended up being the difference," he said. "The flurry at the end of the game was just incredible. I've seen it a few times, but it never gets old.

"But it's the whole group, it's all 12 guys, these last six weeks of putting in so much work."

As for Lyles, he leaves Paris with one gold and one bronze, having withdrawn from the men's 4x100 relay as Team USA were disqualified after a botched handoff.
