NBA legend Michael Jordan has revealed he was the 'most nervous he has been in years' after picking up a basketball again while on holiday.
Jordan, an NBA icon widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time, retired for the third and final time in 2003, bringing his illustrious career to a close.
Despite helping himself to six NBA titles, five league MVP trophies and being named an All-Star 14 times – as well as many other accolades throughout his 19-year career at the highest level – Jordan has confirmed his most recent outing on the court was the most nerve-racking he had experienced in a while, over 20 years since his retirement from the game.
Speaking on NBC Sports ahead of the season opener between the Houston Rockets and reigning champions Oklahoma City Thunder, Jordan revealed details of the recent encounter with the owner of a home he was renting in New York to watch the Ryder Cup.

“I haven't picked up a ball in years. You don't see a hoop anywhere round here,” he said.
“I was at the Ryder Cup and I rented a house from the owner. He came over to do pictures and he had grandkids.
“I was doing a meet and greet - thanking for them for allowing me to stay in the house - and he had a basketball court.
“He says, "I want you to shoot one free throw." I said, "Really? I already paid for the house.
“When I stepped up to shoot the free throw, it's the most nervous I've been in years.

“Those kids heard the stories from their parents about what I did 30 years ago. So, their expectation is 30 years prior and I haven't touched a basketball.”
Jordan was then asked about whether or not he stepped up to the line and made the free throw, to which he confidently responded: “Absolutely.
“That made my whole week. Because I was able to please that kid - not knowing if I could.”
