NBA legend Dennis Rodman shocks fans with wild death bet revelation that lasted for 12 years

NBA icon Dennis Rodman has left fans stunned with a revelation he made in an appearance at Fanatics Fest regarding his 'death'.

Rodman, one of the most colourful personalities in the history of basketball, won five NBA championships in a decorated career that saw him represent Detroit Pistons, San Antonio Spurs, Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers, and Dallas Mavericks.

With a plethora of piercings and an array of weird and wild hairstyles, Rodman did things differently and in his own way.

'The Worm' was renowned for his party lifestyle and was regularly spotted hitting the clubs and rubbing shoulders with the A-listers.

But in an appearance on the 'Above The Rim' podcast with Dwight Howard at Fanatics Fest in New York, Rodman revealed that his lifestyle was so wild that all sportsbooks in Las Vegas accepted bets on when he would die over a 12-year period between 1998 and 2012.

He explained: "Vegas, any of you guys been to Vegas? Every casino in Vegas from 1998 to 2010, every sportsbook had my name on it. Every one. You don't know why, right? 'When is Dennis going to die?' Look it up.

"People were betting on it. Every sportsbook had it."

Howard interjected and asked Rodman directly, "Was that because you was always partying?".

The 65-year-old discussed his antics but revealed that contrary to what some may think, he never took any drugs.

Rodman added: "I was out there but I wasn't partying like that. I never did anything like cocaine or heroin - none of that kind of stuff.

"It was just drinks and stuff like that, cigars. Other than that, I never touched a drug in my life - besides alcohol - ever."

Rodman loved letting off steam before big games and he did just that before an NBA finals showdown with the Seattle Supersonics.

The evening before the action on the court, he went out for sushi with some of his pals in what started out as a civilised activity.

That soon changed though as Rodman and his crew ended up in a crazy club with a bondage rack, people in elevated cages and women putting burning war onto their nipples.

"I rounded up some of the craziest bastards I know and went to my favorite sushi restaurant in Chicago, and started doing Sake Bombers the way a dying man in the desert drinks water," he recalled in his book Walk On The Wild Side.

"We ended up at Crobar, where they have a bondage rack and men will stand there writhing in pain while voluptuous women pour burning wax onto their nipples, and people in elevated cages dry-hump each other to the beat of ear-splitting techno-house music played by a lesbian DJ named 'Psychobitch'."

He finished having breakfast at a place called 'Third Coast' and was greeted by the sun shining.

"I knew I was ready for game 6," Rodman continued.

"Sure enough, we went out and got solid and won."

Rodman suffered no hangover whatsoever, scoring nine points, 19 rebounds, five assists and three steals.
