UFC 312 has suffered a setback as a fight has been cancelled just hours before the event.

The UFC returns to Sydney, Australia, for this weekend's UFC 312, which features two championship bouts.

UFC middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis puts his title on the line against Sean Strickland in a highly-anticipated rematch.

South Africa's Du Plessis beat Strickland by split decision at UFC 297 last year to capture the UFC middleweight title.

He made the first defence of his title against ex-UFC champion Israel Adesanya as Strickland, who beat Paulo Costa in his last Octagon outing, aims to become a two-time UFC champion.

Elsewhere on the card, UFC women's strawweight champion Zhang Weili defends her belt against Tatiana Suarez, who fights for UFC gold for the first time in her career.

But UFC 312 is down a fight following the cancellation of Park Hyun-sung vs. Nyamjargal Tumendemberel.

Park vs. Tumendemberel was scheduled to be a part of the prelims until it was cancelled.

UFC commentator Jon Anik made the announcement before Friday's official weigh-in.

Tumendemberel suffered a split decision defeat in his UFC debut. As for Park, he has two UFC wins to his name, beating Choi Seung-guk and Shannon Ross.

It’s unclear what the promotion’s next move for either fighter is.
