Former UFC double champion Amanda Nunes has hit back after Sean Strickland claimed even the 'softest' man could beat her in a sexist rant.

Ahead of his return to the UFC octagon this weekend, Strickland, who has made a career out of making outlandish statements, once again made headlines for his views.

During a press conference, the former middleweight champion made several homophobic and sexist remarks during a rant about women's MMA and the state of the NFL following the Super Bowl.

Strickland's comments were immediately met with significant backlash online, with some fans even calling on the UFC and US broadcast partner Paramount+ to take action against the fighter.

The American even claimed that any man in the world would be able to beat former champion Nunes, prompting the UFC Hall of Famer to brutally shut him down in a social media post.

Speaking following the announcement of a fight involving UFC legends Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano, Stricklands claimed that "nobody gives a f*ck" about women's sports and suggested that women are "too empowered," and should focus on "making food and cleaning the house."

During his sexist rant, the 34-year-old added that even "the softest" male could beat up Nunes, a former two-division UFC champion who's widely considered to be the greatest female fighter of all time.

But Nunes clearly isn't even remotely bothered by Strickland's claims, as she responded his comments on social media stating that women can do everything that he listed as well as fighting at the very top of the UFC.

Responding on Instagram, Nunes wrote: “We do everything he said, and to top it all off, LOL, we’re fighters too. Don’t cry, man.”

During her time in the UFC, Nunes claimed the featherweight title as well as winning the UFC women's bantamweight belt on two occasions.

Her overall record in the MMA organisation being 16 wins and just two losses, with notable wins over the likes of Cris Cyborg, Valentina Shevchenko and Rousey.

In 2022, she claimed the top spot in the women's pound for pound rankings, while she remains the only fighter in UFC history to defend two titles in two different weight classes while actively holding them simultaneously.

Comparatively, Strickland's UFC record is 16 wins and seven losses and he enters his upcoming fight against Anthony 'Fluffy' Hernandez as a significant underdog.

Although he is also a former champion, having beaten Israel Adesanya for the middleweight title, he lost the belt in his next fight and sits third in the middleweight rankings.
