MMA fans are shocked after seeing what Paddy Pimblett was eating ahead of his knockout victory over Michael Chandler at UFC 314.

Pimblett pulled off a career-best victory over popular fighter Chandler at UFC 314 in Miami's Kaseya Center, winning the bout via third round TKO.

Unlike many of the other fights in his career, the Liverpudlian remained completely disciplined in the build-up to the fight, refraining from overindulging in his favourite foods, as he has become famous for doing on several occasions.

But old habits die hard, as fans were left stunned after spotting what the 30-year-old was enjoying just hours before stepping into the octagon to fight Chandler.

Pimblett's win over Chandler boosted him into the top 10 of the UFC's lightweight rankings for the first time in his career and maintained his unbeaten record within the organisation.

And it seems that the perfect food to prepare yourself for such a big performance, is a packet of Sour Patch Kids, an American sweet that Pimblett was seen eating in his behind the scenes vlog for UFC 314.

Reacting to the rising star's video, one fan wrote: "Casually snacking like he's going through his lunchbox before a playground footy match at school lol."

While one joked: "Getting snacks ready after a fight is such a paddy thing."

Another congratulated the lightweight, adding: "Well done young man ! I’m an American and I’m behind you 100% enjoy some good food and time with your family! Proud of you."

After the fight, Pimblett also can be seen enjoying several other treats that he brought with him to Miami specifically for his post-fight snack, including peanut butter and jam Reece's cups, cookies and tins of Dr Pepper.

It's unclear when the Liverpudlian will return to the UFC octagon, but whenever it is, it's likely that it will be in a title fight eliminator against one of the division's top fighters.

Speaking after his fight, he told Joe Rogan exactly who he wants next, saying: "Charles is the biggest legend out of them all, and he gets called the best submission artist the UFC has ever seen.

"Well I dispute that. I'm here. So me versus Charles."
