Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett has claimed that one UFC fighter is "lucky" to still be fighting under the promotion's banner due to him being “boring”.
UFC lightweight contender Pimblett is due to fight Justin Gaethje for the interim lightweight title at UFC 324 after lightweight champion Ilia Topuria announced he would be taking a step away from the sport to deal with ongoing issues in his personal life.
The 30-year-old is currently ranked fifth in the UFC’s lightweight division but does not have wins over any top 10 fighters, which has caused some, including New Zealand lightweight Dan Hooker, to suggest has been “cherry-picked” by the promotion.
Last time out in April, Pimbett fought and stopped Michael Chandler to extend his seven-fight UFC winning streak. The Scouser has secured five of his seven UFC wins inside the distance.

Aside from his obvious talent, part of Pimblett’s appeal is his ability to capture the attention of fans outside of the ring with entertaining interviews and press conferences.

And despite being booked to fight Gaethje in Las Vegas in just over a month’s time, ‘The Baddy’ could not help but offer a brutal take on fellow lightweight contender Arman Tsarukyan, who beat Hooker by submission last time out in November.
The Georgian fighter boasts a record of 10-2 since joining the UFC in 2019, losing only to Islam Makhachev and Mateusz Gamrot.
However, Paddy is clearly not Tsarukyan’s biggest fan and even claimed he was “boring” and “lucky” to have not been cut by the UFC, in a recent interview with Sky Sports.
"He's boring,” Pimblett said when asked if he was surprised that Tsarukyan hadn’t secured a title shot.
“I don't know anyone who wants to see Arman Tsarukyan fight.”
The 30-year-old then suggested that the Georgian’s behaviour has impacted his career negatively, citing the fact that he pulled out of UFC 311 and a fight against then-lightweight champion Makhachev as something the UFC frowned upon.
“It's his own family's fault for letting him be a spoiled little baby his whole life,” he added.
“Because he's got money, he thinks he can pay his way out of anything.
“You got told you gotta work your way back to the title. Beating Dan Hooker, who can't grapple to save his life, doesn't do that.
“It is funny because he’s left out in the cold now because Charles [Oliveira] is fighting Max [Holloway] and I’m fighting Justin [Gaethje], then the next person down the rankings is Dan Hooker, who he’s just beat… he’s going to have to rematch Gamrot… nobody gives a flying f*** about Arman Tsarukyan.
“He’s lucky he hasn’t been cut… he’s lucky he’s still on the roster.”
