Dana White has confirmed that UFC will soon make a decision on the Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall fight that has been building up for a while.

Aspinall currently holds the interim heavyweight belt and has been waiting for his next fight since July 2024, where he defended the title by beating Curtis Blaydes.

A fight between him and legendary fighter Jon Jones has been in the works for several months, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

Jones is one of the greatest MMA fighters, with only one loss that came via disqualification.

But he has shown an unwillingness to fight Aspinall and stated the British fighter had not done anything or proven himself yet.

UFC President Dana White has always assured the fans that the fight would happen and he has finally given a deadline to the fighters.

Dana White on the Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinall fight

White appeared in an interview with Jim Rome and revealed a decision about the fight was going to be made in the next couple of weeks.

Despite Jones having made a big statement about his retirement, the legendary fighter later also claimed he and Aspinall had let UFC make the announcement about the fight.

In his interview with Rome, White was asked about the Jones-Aspinall fight, to which he said: "I don't know, we'll see how this thing plays out over the next couple of weeks, if we can't get this fight done we'll move on quickly."

White confirmed that an answer in a 'couple of weeks' which will make things interesting heading into UFC 317.

Aspinall made it clear that he was ready to fight anyone and has been training since his last fight in July.

He has had two title fights and won by knockouts in both of them, beating his opponent in the first round itself.

However, Jones is going to be a difficult opponent for him as the legendary fighter is one of the best in the business and has never been defeated aside from a DQ defeat in 2009 to Matt Hamill.

The 37-year-old is coming into the fight after a win over Stipe Miocic, which came in November 2024.

While in recent days it appears the heavyweight showdown seems likely, White's recent comments has made things even more clearer.

If the fight is announced between the Aspinall and Jones for the heavyweight title, it is going to be one of the best battles of the year.
