Disturbing footage of a 'zombified' Amanda Lemos' extreme weight cut emerges online

UFC fighter Amanda Lemos underwent a drastic cut to face Zhang Weili.

A disturbing video of Amanda Lemos' extreme weight cut for her UFC title fight against Zhang Weili has emerged online.

Lemon registered back-to-back wins over Michelle Waterson and Marino Rodriguez to earn a shot at UFC gold at UFC 292 earlier this month.

But the Brazilian fell short in her bid to become the UFC women's strawweight champion as she was completely outclassed by Zhang.

It was her first crack at a UFC championship, having joined the promotion back in 2017, where she debuted at bantamweight.

Her fight against the Chinese star took place at 115lbs - 20lbs below the weight she made her Octagon debut.

And a video of her weight cut to strawweight shows how gruelling it was to make the championship mark.

Footage shows her exiting a sauna tent with the help of their coach, before being wiped down. She then lies down on tin foil to continue her weight cut.

During the practice, Lemos cuts a zombie-like figure and is under the aid of her trainers throughout the whole process, highlighting the dangers behind weight cutting.

The video sent social media wild as MMA fan on social made their feelings known about cutting weight.

One X user wrote: "If you have to get cooked like a baked potato to make weight, that’s not your weight class."

A second said: "All this just to fight a smaller opponent because you don’t have the skill to fight at your natural weight . Weight cutting should be illegal, for multiple reasons."

A third added: "Yea that sucks, she could barely walk. Looked zombified."

A fourth exclaimed: "This a ridiculous and dangerous practice. They cut weight, they pass the weight, and they gain back 90% of that weight in 24 hours. What's the point?"

A fifth commented: "I’ve always been baffled by fighters when they cut weight. Why not just fight at a weight you feel comfortable at."
