Paddy Pimblett's Stunning Earnings Leaked From Justin Gaethje Defeat

Paddy Pimblett walked away from UFC 324 with a massive purse.

Paddy Pimblett's eye-watering purse for his title fight against Justin Gaethje has emerged following UFC 324.

Pimblett suffered the first defeat of his budding UFC career after losing on points to Gaethje in a Fight of the Year contender at UFC 324.

Gaethje beat Pimblett by unanimous decision to claim the interim UFC lightweight title, setting up a future showdown against undisputed champion Ilia Topuria, who delivered a scathing assessment of his rival.

It's back to the drawing board for 'The Baddy', who has three potential scenarios available to him in the wake of his crushing defeat.

Despite his loss, Pimblett walked away from his five-round battle with a cool $100,000 (£73,000) bonus after winning the Fight of the Night award.

But that's a fraction of his huge UFC 324 pay.

According to BetMGM, Pimblett bagged a whopping $1,532,000 (£1.1 million), with Gaethje reportedly earning $2,892,000 (£2.1 million).

Per the report, Sean O’Malley, who beat Song Yadong in the co-main event, also cracked seven-figures, pocketing $1,021,000 (£747,400).

The Liverpool fighter's purse is a reflection of his star power, having become one of the biggest names in the UFC since joining the MMA leaders from Cage Warriors.

Before UFC 324, Pimblett had won seven consecutive UFC fights, including big wins over King Green, Tony Ferguson and Michael Chandler.

And his star power hasn't diminished following his defeat given he produced a stellar performance, putting on a war that will be remembered for years to come.

Inside the Octagon, Pimblett told Joe Rogan: "I wanted to be walking away with that belt. I know how tough I am and I don't need to prove that to anyone.

"There is no man I'd rather lose to than the Highlight; he is someone I loved watching growing up and it shows why he is a legend."

He added: "I think 48-47 was a fair scorecard. I won't lie, he hit me with a body shot in the first round and it got me. I thought I was winning the round up to that point.

"You live and you learn; I'm 31, I will be back better. You haven't seen the last of me."
