Johnny Walker was inches away from producing the greatest 'fake' in UFC history before stoppage

Johnny Walker stunned fans with his brilliant moment at UFC 294.

Johnny Walker was just inches away from landing the greatest 'fake' in UFC history before the controversial stoppage to his UFC 294 bout against Magomed Ankalaev.

The light-heavyweight clash between Walker and Ankalaev was stopped in the first-round by the doctor.

Walker was hit with an illegal knee by Ankalaev, with the ringside physician deeming him unable to continue.

As a result, the referee waved off the contest, leaving UFC CEO Dana White fuming over the incident.

Conor McGregor has also shared his thoughts on the incident.

The doctor's decision came after the clash was hotting up as Walker and Ankalaev were involved in some tasty exchanges.

The Brazilian almost executed a stunning 'fake' after nearly performing a perfect flying knee on his Russian opponent.

Ankalaev seemed to crumble Walker with a body shot as the UFC commentators screamed in amazement.

However, as Ankalaev rushed in to swarm his foe, Walker attempted a flying knee which was just inches away from connecting on his rival's chin.

Daniel Cormier seemed to acknowledge Walker's bluff as he made a point on commentary.

UFC fans on social media loved Walker's 'fake' in the Octagon.

One X user wrote: "It's crazy how people actually think he was being serious and was hurt to the body."

A second tweeted: "That was real close too. The flying knee was cms away."

A third added: "Best part of the whole night."

A fourth said: "Mannnnnnnnnn it was so close."

Another commented: "That was insane."

Unfortunately, moments later, the 205lbs contest was called off after Ankalaev hit Walker with an illegal knee.

Following the instructions of the doctor, the referee halted the bout three minutes and 13 seconds into the first round.

A rematch between the UFC light-heavyweight contenders could be on the cards following the unfortunate ending.
