Joe Rogan caused controversy with his comment on who Taylor Swift 'is not going to marry'

Joe Rogan caused controversy with his comment on who Taylor Swift 'is not going to marry'

His comments about the pop superstar were controversial.

Joe Rogan has been accused of sexism after his comments about Taylor Swift and marriage.

Swift has been in a relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce since July 2023. The pair are often pictured together, while Kelce has also been snapped attending multiple Eras tour dates and she has been in the stands for 17 NFL games over the course of their relationship.

The pair are reportedly considering taking the next step with an engagement, although there is a condition that must be met first.

And Rogan has suggested that Swift’s decision to become part of a power couple across music and sport should come as no surprise.

Speaking on his podcast, the Joe Rogan Experience’ in 2023, the UFC commentator claimed that women look for a man who can bring them financial stability and be a provider for them.

And he went on to say that Swift would never marry a bartender, regardless of any other factors.

But critics across social media claimed that his remarks were sexist and promoted outdated gender stereotypes of relationships and marriage.

Rogan said: "To be sexist and to talk in sexist terms, women, go to a man as a provider. She's going to want a guy who can keep it together, right? You're gonna want a guy you're gonna have children. You're gonna want a guy who's going to keep it together, financially stable, be disciplined, do all the things that he's going to do, not fall apart, not become a drug addict, not do something f****** stupid like lose his job and not give up because of that and then everybody gets on welfare. You have to count on someone unless you want to work yourself. There's like this evolutionary aspect.”

He added that men, by contrast, don’t care about that side of things.

“No one cares,” he added. “Are you nice? Are you cool? Are you fun to be with? Do I enjoy spending time with you? Then, who cares? But a woman like Taylor Swift is not going to marry a bartender. Get the f*** out of here. I sell out stadiums, what do you do? You make drinks?"
