UFC Legend Hits Out At Khabib Nurmagomedov Over Scathing Ring Girl Comments

UFC Legend Hits Out At Khabib Nurmagomedov Over Scathing Ring Girl Comments

Responding to Khabib Nurmagomedov's comments, UFC legend Michael Bisping claimed that ring girls are "historic in boxing and now with MMA."

Michael Bisping has staunchly defended the use of ring girls in MMA after UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov’s damming comments.

Khabib, 32, caused controversy by suggesting ring girls are the “most useless people” in MMA and questioned their purpose during fights.

Speaking at a press conference in Moscow, the Eagle said: “Look, I don’t want to offend anyone, ring girls are the most useless people in martial arts.

“What is their purpose? I have a question. You can show that it is the second round on the screen. I realise that is a history. History knows many mistakes.

“We read history to avoid mistakes of the past in the future. If we look in the history, it says they are useless. That is my personal opinion.”

Bisping, who retired from MMA in 2018, admitted that he is a “huge fan” of Khabib.

However, the 42-year-old UFC Hall of Famer fired back at Khabib over his remarks on ring girls, saying they are “historic in boxing” and they “make a lot of money with sponsorships and endorsements.”

Speaking on the Believe You Me podcast, Bisping said: “Nobody goes for the ring girls, that’s not how it works.

“They’re a little bit extra for the show. And I like it because it’s historic in boxing and now with MMA, of course. It’s a little bit of fun.

“I’m a huge fan of Khabib. But come on, man! Let the girls have a job. They make a lot of money with sponsorships and endorsements.”

Khabib retired undefeated in his illustrious MMA career after beating Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 in Abu Dhabi in 2020.

Bisping last week announced that he had inked a new four-year deal with UFC to continue his role as a commentator.

“Pleased to announce I’m signing a new [four]-year contract with the UFC to continue my role as commentator,” he tweeted.

“Beyond grateful for this role. Big thanks to [UFC president Dana White]. I really am obsessed with this sport and calling fights for the biggest fight promotion in history is a real honour for me.”
