MMA basketball is a real sport, it's as brutal as you'd imagine

The action that goes on inside the Octagon is chaotic at the best of times, let alone with more fighters and some hoops thrown in the mix.

If you thought MMA couldn’t get any more brutal, think again.

The action that goes on inside the Octagon is chaotic at the best of times, why not go throw in a couple of glass hoops and a few more fighters?

That’s right, the newest and most ridiculous sport to make waves is a mix of MMA and basketball called Batyr Ball.

How someone came up with the idea to mix those two sports together isn’t entirely known, but damn does it look vicious.

Footage emerged of the sport online that looks to show two teams of three fighters jostling against each other to get hold of a ball.

On either side of the cage are basketball hoops hanging, as the teams fight it out to land a hoop all whilst trying to avoid copping a knockout blow.

Absolutely wild.

Even more insane is that during the clip one of the players absolutely destroys the glass backboard with one nuts dunk.

As he does so, the glass completely shatters and falls all over the mat as the players walk away unfazed.

I mean be careful lads, you are walking barefoot.

The sport looks to have been set up by Kazakhstan-based MMA promotion Naiza Fighting Championship.

They’ve been holding MMA events since 2015, but I guess they decided they needed to spice up the sport.

The clip doesn’t entirely divulge the rules but it looks like complete chaos.

One Twitter user said: “Khabib would be pound for pound #1 in this sport.”

Another tweeted: “Imagine getting dunked on while homie is simultaneously hitting you with a flying knee smh.”

A third wrote: “Huge for the ‘football players playing basketball’ community.”

A fourth added: “All the promotion’s money is going into backboards.”

Seriously if we ever wanted an NBA and UFC crossover this would be the way to do it.

Perhaps Alex Volkanovski and Islam Makhachev should put both belts on the line in batyr ball.
