Khabib slams Khamzat Chimaev's behaviour at UFC 279: 'There are no Muslims around him'

Khabib takes aim at Khamzat Chimaev's UFC 279 antics.

Khabib Nurmagomedov has slammed Khamzat Chimaev's UFC 279 antics, claiming he needs more Muslims in his team. Check it out below:

Chimaev continued his impressive streak in the UFC by blitzing Kevin Holland in a re-arranged bout at UFC 279 last weekend.

Of course, he was supposed to meet Nate Diaz in the main-event - but lost the chance to face the Stockton slugger after missing weight.

Dana White matched Chimaev with Holland following their scuffle on fight week, which saw the Chechen-born Swedish star clash with the American prior to the pre-fight press conference.

His antics in the build-up to his bout doesn't sit well with Nurmagomedov, who made a fascinating observation about the 28-year-old.

Appearing at a recent event hosted by the non-profit organisation Human Appeal, the MMA legend questioned Chimaev's entourage as he believes the UFC contender is not surrounded by enough Muslims.

“If you are a Muslim, you should have good people around you," the former UFC lightweight champion said during a fundraiser.

"Muslims who can say 'Hey, don’t do this.' I recently watched the weigh-in of Khamzat Chimaev. I followed what was happening with his weight and looked at his team.

"There are no Muslims around him and this is very bad. Because if you are a Muslim, you need good, strong people around you that will say 'Come back, do this.'"

Nurmagomedov added: "When you become famous and rich, when you gain power and there are no people who will give advice or you do not listen to them, then something will happen.

"You need good people, even if you don’t like it, you need them."

Chimaev, who had Darren Till in his team, failed to hit the 170lbs mark for his welterweight contest against Diaz.

He went onto fight Holland in a catchweight bout, submitting his opponent in the first round to register his sixth win inside the famed Octagon.

The unbeaten fighter appears keen to have one more outing before the end of the year.
