Piers Morgan Sparks US Ryder Cup Fury With Donald Trump Post

Piers Morgan took aim at Team USA and fans at Bethpage Black.

Piers Morgan took aim at Team USA following their start to the 2025 Ryder Cup and mentioned Donald Trump.

Trump, an avid golf fan, will visit Bethpage Black, a short distance outside New York, during the course of the Ryder Cup, with five items banned ahead of his arrival.

Bryson DeChambeau hopes the presence of the US president will inspire USA to victory over Europe.

He said: "I think he'll be a great force for us to get a lot of people on our side."

DeChambeau, who has previously visited Trump at the White House, added: "I think it will be interesting and exciting to see how the crowd and everybody reacts. It's going to be an electric environment."

Well, judging by USA's performance on Friday, they could do with some inspiration after Europe dominated proceedings in the morning session, with the likes of Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood delivering the goods in their foursome match.

Team Europe silenced the American supporters in the foursomes, leaving themselves in a commanding position.

Morgan was glued to the Ryder Cup and poked fun at Team USA, jokingly claiming the American golfers could be 'deported' following their performances on the course.

Seemingly referring to the Trump administration's immigration policies, he wrote: "I hope Team USA turns up at the Ryder Cup before President Trump arrives later - or there might be a mass deportation."

In another post on X, Morgan added: "Not just America’s golfers who haven’t turned up at Bethpage.. where are their supposedly 'intimidating' fans? Heard noisier trappist monasteries."

Team Europe received a vociferous atmosphere from a passionate New York crowd this week ahead of the Ryder Cup getting underway on Friday.

Speaking ahead of Friday's session, McIlroy reflected on his past experience of playing in away Ryder Cups as he explained his approach to the crowd.

"I feel at times in the Ryder Cup, I have engaged too much with the crowd," he said. "But then there's times where I haven't engaged enough. It's really just trying to find the balance of using that energy from the crowd to fuel your performance.

"I felt like at Hazeltine [2016] that I probably engaged too much at times, then at Whistling Straits [2021] I didn't engage enough and felt pretty flat because of it. It's just trying to find that balance."
