Female pro golfer stunned after person 'mansplains' how to hit the ball at driving range

It was a tough watch.

A female professional golfer was stunned after a man at a driving range tried to explain to her how to hit a ball.

PGA golfer Georgia Ball frequently documents her life to her 156,000 followers on TikTok, with her posts often including footage of her practices.

When practising a variation of her swing, Ball, who is also a golf coach, was approached by a man offering tips on her swing.

Despite Ball’s repeated attempts to explain she was purposefully stopping her swing early, the person who approached her insisted: “You should not be doing that”.

He continued: "You should be right through your swing and follow through. You are too slow on the way up and then back."

Ball attempted to interject and explain that she was fully aware of her form, and was merely trying out a new style of swing. She politely responded: "OK, I am going through a swing change at the minute."

The man then said: "I've been playing golf for 20 years."

Ball then lined up another shot and launched the ball straight down the middle of the range using a very similar swing to the one she had used before.

The person went on to comment: "See how much better that was?"

Ball reiterated once more that she was slowing down her swing to try out a new technique, adding that it was a method “the best golfers in the world” do to improve their game.

Unable to take the hint, the man responded by saying: "Keep doing that anyway, OK?"

Ball’s TikTok post has been viewed some 8 million times. She captioned the clip: "This was a bit awkward, not going to lie. I couldn't help but laugh. I was lost for words!"

One person in the comments wrote: "The way he cuts you off. The way he took credit for your swing and the way you strike the ball.

"Absolutely not… Props to you for laughing it off, I probably wouldn’t have been as nice."

Another said: "He doesn't take the hint or even listen. And takes credit for your next hit like he helped!!! Ugh. You handled it well, but we shouldn't have to handle this condescension."

A third added: "I got more angry every time he wouldn't let you finish speaking."

And a fourth said: "Me who knows nothing about golf: 'She’s going through a SWING CHANGE SIR!!'"
