An amateur golfer had a seriously impressive round while playing in his club championship as he achieved something that most pros can only dream of.

With over 108 million people estimated to be golf players across the globe, it's safe to say that it is one of the most popular sports to pick up and play in the world.

Following Europe's spectacular win over their American rivals during the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black in New York, it is likely that these numbers are only going to go up in the coming months.

Of course, for any golfer, amateur or professional, the dream is to make a rare hole-in-one at some point in their careers, something achieved by only a small percentage of players.

However, there is one amateur player from Worcestershire that has done something even more impressive than that.

While playing in his club championship, Gavin Bourne beat odds of 67,000,000/1 as he made two holes-in-one in one round.

He started his round off with a perfect shot on the third hole before incredibly doing so again near the end of his round on hole 15, meaning that he of course took home the title of champion.

Speaking about the spectacular round to Sky News, Bourne said: "I've got to be honest, I do feel like a bit of a fraud after the European guys have brought the Ryder Cup home and I've just had two lucky shots!

"I think someone said 67 million to 1 was the odds, I wish someone had told me before and i might have had a pound on it but unfortunately not."

Bourne explained that the incredible feat happened as part of the 36-hole tournament and assured that there were witnesses to his amazing shots that can vouch for him.

Talking about his first hole-in-one, Bourne said that he simply hit the shot like he typically would be managed to get it straight down the line before his friend exclaimed that it had gone straight into the hole.

Not long after he repeated the feat on the 15th hole but, unfortunately, he didn't actually see the ball go in this time due to the layout of the course.

Instead, Bourne recalled the club's captain emerging with his arms outstretched, leading to the amateur player thinking that the ball had been lost, rather than landing in the hole once again.

Although he remained calm throughout the amazing round, Bourne assured that the size of his achievement wasn't lost on him, as he celebrated with some beers with his clubmates before popping a bottle of champagne with his partner once he returned home.
