Formula One star Charles Leclerc has issued a statement after his home address in Monaco was leaked to the public.

Ferrari driver Leclerc has not enjoyed the best of starts to the new F1 season, having registered two DNFs in his first three races.

The Monaco native has collected just six points so far this season, leaving him in tenth position in the World Championship standings.

For any sportsperson enduring a tough period, being able to switch off and physically and mentally recuperate at home is really important.

Unfortunately for Leclerc, he has not been able to do that in recent months.

This week Leclerc confirmed that his home address in Monaco has somehow become public, leading to fans turning up at his house and invading his privacy.

In a bid to get a little peace and quiet, the driver took to Instagram to issue a statement.

"Hey everyone,” Leclerc said in a message posted on Instagram.

"For the past few months, my home address has somehow become public, leading to people gathering beneath my apartment, ringing my doorbell, and asking for pictures and autographs.

"While I’m always happy to be there for you and I truly appreciate your support, please respect my privacy and refrain from coming to my house.

"I’ll make sure to stop for everyone when you see me on the streets or at the track, but I won’t be coming downstairs if you visit my home.

"Your support, both in person and on social media, means the world to me, but there is a boundary that should not be crossed.

"Happy Easter, everyone."

After failing to finish the Australian Grand Prix last weekend, Leclerc will hope to do better at the Azerbaijan GP at the end of April.

Red Bull driver Max Verstappen currently leads the championship standings, while Leclerc's Ferrari teammate Carlos Sainz Jr sits in fifth position.
