Oleksandr Zinchenko tipped to win Premier League 'Player of the Season' award

Oleksandr Zinchenko tipped to win Premier League 'Player of the Season' award

Oleksandr Zinchenko has starred for Arsenal this season.

Oleksandr Zinchenko has been the Premier League and Arsenal's 'Player of the Season', according to Piers Morgan.

Zinchenko joined the Gunners from Manchester City last summer in a deal worth £32 million.

And he's starred under Mikel Arteta this season, with his side mounting a serious title charge.

The Ukrainian has added skill and experience to the Arsenal squad, with Morgan hailing his efforts this campaign.

He believes the 26-year-old has been the club's best player this season ahead of Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard.

"My argument for the last 18 years has been there have been so many weak links in the team. You’d see Arsenal go out against the bigger clubs: Chelsea, United, City, whatever," he said on talkSPORT.

"There were always weaknesses in those starting XIs. I don’t see any weaknesses now. I just see a mixture of youth and experience, players who’ve got the right attitude now.

"The signings that were made in the close season - bringing Saliba back, [he] has been transformative with Gabriel.

"Getting Gabriel Jesus, although he’s been injured, imagine what it’ll be like when he’s back for the run in."

Morgan added: "For me, potentially along with Saka and Odegaard, the player of the season for us, and maybe the Premier League, has been Zinchenko.

"Pep Guardiola said he was surplus to requirements. His heat map last night is absolutely insane. That guy was supposed to be left-back and he was absolutely everywhere."

Zinchenko has played 18 league games this term and has established himself as Arsenal's first-choice left-back ahead of Kieran Tierney.

He won four league titles during his trophy-laden spell at Man City as he looks to bag a winners' medal with Arsenal.
