Chelsea manager Emma Hayes furiously shoved Arsenal boss Jonas Eidevall on the back of the Women’s League Cup.

The final of the Women’s League Cup, also known as the Continental Cup, took place at the Molineux Stadium as Chelsea and Arsenal hoped for glory.

After both sides failed to score in 90 minutes, the match was taken to extra time.

Eventually, a late winner scored by Arsenal striker Stina Blackstenius in the 116th minute was enough for the Gunners to seal victory.

As the final whistle went, Chelsea boss Hayes was seen shoving Arsenal manager Eidevall aside in a bizarre altercation.

Hayes was then seen pointing a finger towards the Swede as the Arsenal manager walked away confused.

Speaking to the BBC about the altercation, Hayes said: “I think there's a way to behave on the side of the pitch and not for the first time, I've been in women's football a long time and I don't think we should tolerate male aggression like we did today.

“Fronting up or squaring up to a player is something that's unacceptable. I've never been booked in 12 years of my career but I think there's a way to behave on the touchline.”

She added: “He received a yellow card but perhaps should have been more.”

Prior to the match, Hayes was asked about Eidevall, she said: “Don’t get me wrong he can be a pain in the backside on the touchline.

“I have huge respect for him and what he’s done for Arsenal.”

Eidevall said of the incident: “Not much. It's just we had a discussion before the game where both clubs have to agree to play with a multi-ball system or not.

“Chelsea said they only wanted to play with one ball and we said we wanted to play with multi-ball. Then when it suits them in the last minute of the game when they want to take another ball to take a quick throw-in, then all of sudden they want to use that.

“I only said, 'You guys wanted to play with one ball,' so it's not my problem. But it's all good I think, it was just the heat of the moment.”
