Valour FC forward William Akio denied his team a certain goal with a gaffe so bad that it has been described by fans as 'the miss of the century'. Don't believe me? Then continue reading.
To give this moment some context, Winnipeg-based Valour came up against HFX Wanderers in the Canadian Premier League on Sunday in a battle between fifth and sixth.
Valour eventually managed to pick up all three points thanks to a late goal from Moses Dyer, but the headlines belonged to South Sudan international Akio, who somehow managed to miss this. THIS.
As you can see from the baffling footage above, Valour forward Alessandro Riggi thought he'd found the net in the opening stages when goalkeeper Christian Oxne fumbled his shot.

But as the ball slowly dribbled towards the goal line, Akio scooped the ball away with a terrible effort, leaving everyone in the stadium – and at home – in a state of confusion.
"I don't think I've ever seen that before," said the bemused commentator as he watched a replay. "That is clearly going in. He's kept that out himself."
Valour players were convinced that the ball crossed the line and as a result, they surrounded the referee. But the replay confirmed that Akio knocked the ball away before it had crossed the line.

It's a moment of madness that has stunned social media in recent hours. One confused fan said: "William Akio has to explain this," while another commented: "I’ve seen some open nets missed but this has to be the worst of all time surely?"
A third said: "Someone needs to investigate this."
Akio was replaced in the 54th minute following a forgettable performance for Phillip Dos Santos' side, while that 84th minute strike from Moses Dyer saved a few blushes.
