Wesley Fofana is the 12th highest-paid centre-back in world football following his big move to Chelsea.

The world's 18 highest-paid centre-backs have been named following Wesley Fofana's mega move to Chelsea.

Chelsea have finally completed the signing of Fofana from Leicester City in a transfer worth £70 million.

He's expected to earn a cool £200,000-per-week, having penned a lucrative seven-year deal.

Only 11 centre-backs will pocket more than the 21-year-old, according to a study.

Fbref, via data from Capology, recently named the 100 highest-paid players in the world, with 18 centre-backs featuring in the top 100 following Fofana's transfer.

Paris Saint-Germain star Sergio Ramos is the highest-paid centre-back, earning a massive £451,128-per-week, ahead of David Alaba and Raphael Varane, who earn £372,218-per-week and £310,182-per-week at Real Madrid and Manchester United respectively.

Antonio Rudiger, Presnel Kimpembe, Kalidou Koulibaly, Matthijs de Ligt, John Stones, Marquinhos and Jules Kounde make up the top ten.

Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk, the aforementioned Fofana and Leonardo Bonucci are ranked 11th, 12th and 13th respectively.

Harry Maguire, Gerard Pique, Andreas Christensen, Dayot Upamecano and Mats Hummels make up the top 18 highest-paid centre-backs in world football.
