Alexandre Lacazette could be one of the most wanted striker's in Europe right now but if the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool think they might sign the Frenchman they may be very surprised by Lyon's president.

Lacazette has long been rumoured to be leaving Lyon and this summer it looked more than ever like that was going to happen. Especially with Atletico Madrid eyeing him to replace Antoine Griezmann.

Whilst the ideal situation for Atleti was that they got to keep one Frenchman and bring in the other as well the reason they got to keep Griezmann was down to the club's transfer ban being upheld.

So the striker with 28 goals in Ligue 1 last season for Lyson last season stayed at Parc Olympique Lyonnais at least for the time being, with some of Europe's other major players rumoured to want him.

Premier League trio Manchester United, Liverpool and, most favourably, Arsenal have been linked to making a move for the 26 year-old but there is a blow to the English clubs with Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas suggesting to France Football, via Football 365, that he'd rather sell to PSG:

"I know Nasser [Al-Khelaifi, PSG owner] suggested to Noel Le Graet [president of the French Football Federation] that he is not investing that much in French players because he thought other presidents of French clubs looked badly upon it.

"I want him to know that if he makes an offer for Alexandre at least equal to that of the other clubs bidding for him, then Alex can go to Paris without problem.

"I am a businessman and a modern club president. Transfer money must be reinvested into French football, as I always did when we were at the peak of our powers. When transfer money is shared abroad, it strengthens our competitors instead."

Aulas is suggesting that he wants to see the money stay in French football in order to strengthen the league with their 'competitors' appearing to be league's outside of France.

But the money would stay in the country and if the club have any interest in battling for the French title then surely strengthening PSG isn't a good thing.

Could Lyon's president have a an ulterior motive?

Where will Lacazette end up?
