They clearly see a lot of value in him...

Lucas Perez has been heading towards the exit door at Arsenal for a while now, having struggled for game-time last season, making just 11 league appearances and seeing his No.9 shirt taken off him by new signing Alexandre Lacazette.

A return to Deportivo la Coruna in Spain looks to be on the cards for the £17 million man, but Depor want to ensure he is with them for a lengthy spell this time, rather than a loan spell in 204/15 and one season as a permanent player.

So much so, according to AS, the 1999-2000 La Liga winners have offered Perez a massive 10-year contract, as well as a position within the club, as a technical secretary, after he retires from football.

The 28-year old, who also attracted interest from Turkish side Fenerbahce, scored 17 goals in 37 league appearances for Deportivo in 2015/16, leading to that big-money move at the Emirates.

It's thought that the blue and whites are hoping to re-sign Perez for somewhere between £9-11 million, and clearly, they want to ensure he plays at the Estadio Razor for the rest of his career.

A 10-year contract is certainly a rarity in football, and would surely be the longest contract ever handed out in the modern game.

Alan Pardew signing a new eight-year contract, which would have expired this coming September had things gone to plan when he was in charge of Newcastle United in 2012 is one of the most protracted deals for managers, while David Moyes received an unusual six-year deal when he took the reins at Manchester United.

The long-term contracts didn't pay off for either manager, as both were handed the boot at their respective clubs, but did get a handsome pay-off as a result.

More recently in terms of players, Atletico Madrid star Saul committed his future to the club by putting pen to paper on a nine-year deal until 2026, with his current contract due to expire in 2022.

FIFA rules actually state that five years is the maximum cap for the length of a contract in football, but laws in Spain allowed Atleti a loophole, and now Deportivo are looking to do the same.
