Riyad Mahrez was the transfer deadline day deal that would have blown all the other news out of the water but, whilst we waited for him to do a Peter Odemwingie, Leicester wouldn't let him go. But that's not the end of it.
It's no surprise that Leicester and Manchester City didn't come to an agreement on transfer deadline day for Mahrez, despite the Premier League leaders offering up to £65 million and a player for the winger.
Pep Guardiola's side waited till the transfer deadline had around 24 hours to run till they made their first move which was never going to be long enough for the Foxes to get a replacement.

Would Mahrez get into our transfers that next were XI?
Furthermore the Citizens had refused to pay the big bucks for Alexis Sanchez earlier in the month so they were never likely to go up to the £90 million that Leicester wanted, based on similar transfers.
However if the former Premier League champions were thinking that the shutting of the window was the end of it all then they were sadly mistaken. According to Sky Sports Mahrez failed to turn up for training on Thursday after going AWOL.
After handing in a transfer request on Tuesday the Algerian went missing and wasn't part of Leicester's squad for their game against Everton on Wednesday night, despite the fact by that point he was definitely going to be staying.

The report says that the 26 year is too 'depressed' by his club's decision not to accept Guardiola's side offer for him and is not in the right mental place to play football at the moment.
A friend spoke to Sky about the former PFA Player of the Year's disappointment at not being allowed to move, saying, "This is the fourth transfer window in which Leicester have said they will allow him to leave. He feels very strongly that he has done everything in his powers for the club."
Previously the former Le Havre winger had been linked with Arsenal, Barcelona and Liverpool but no one has yet matched his club's valuation of him which, considering the current climate, isn't too unreasonable.
