Managing Barcelona and Bayern Munich in his past means that Pep Guardiola has been in charge of some of the best players on the planet. So far he's resisted the urge to sign any of them but that might be about to change that.

Guardiola took charge of one of the greatest teams in the modern era, bringing the likes of Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Pedro through from the youth system whilst signing the likes of Gerard Pique, Alexis Sanchez and Javier Mascherano.

The team won three La Liga titles and two Champions League titles, including a treble in his first season, before he left to find more, but less, success at Bayern Munich.

When in Germany he brought Thiago from his former club as well as signing the likes of Arturo Vidal, Xabi Alonso and Douglas Costa.

As Manchester City boss the Spaniard has already spent around £200 million improving his team and he's likely to make more changes in the summer. According to The Sun he is eyeing a move for former Barca wing-back Dani Alves but only if the Brazilian lowers his wage demands.

Alves was one of Guardiola's first signings as Barca boss in 2008 and he became one of the most successful players in the clubs history winning 16 major trophies and another 7 'Super Cups'.

The 33 year old moved to Juventus at the end of last season, deciding against signing a new contract at the club. He broke his leg against Genoa in November but returned recently.

Without a partnership with Lionel Messi, Alves has struggled to find his blistering form from the Camp Nou and reportedly offered Barca the chance to re-sign him in January.

Alves will have a year left on his deal at the Juventus Stadium come the summer and the Old Lady may be willing to sell him but the player would have to lower his wage demands.

Guardiola is trying to lower the age of his squad but he may make an exception for someone of Alves' level.
