Bournemouth have smashed their transfer record this summer when they signed Chelsea defender Nathan Ake, who impressed on loan last season, for a reported £20 million.
And they may well break the record again in their pursuit of Napoli midfielder Jorginho.
According to Il Mattino, via Club Call, the Cherries have tabled a 20 million euros bid for the Brazilian-born Italian - with Napoli instantly rebuffing their advances.
The news come after the two sides played out a 2-2 draw at the Vitality Stadium yesterday, with Jorginho featuring in the game. There is said to be a positive link between the two clubs but that didn't stop Napoli from rejecting the bid.

Prior to the fixture, Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe spoke of his admiration for opposite number Maurizio Sarri and revealed he still studies the Neapolitan's training methods.
And it appears as though he wants to take one of his trusty midfielders. Jorginho arrived in Naples, initially on a co-ownership deal, in January 2014, after impressing for Hellas Verona.

He has become a key player in the base of Napoli's midfielder under Sarri and made 31 appearances in all competitions last term.

Bournemouth are in need for a talented midfield player to fill the void left by Jack Wilshere, who spent last season on loan before returning to Arsenal after predictably suffering another injury.

They see Jorginho, capped twice by the Italian national team, as the ideal fit to add that extra quality to their central midfield options, but the player would appear to be too important to the club for them to sign off his departure before the season gets underway. Further bids are likely to be turned down.
Even a sum higher than what Bournemouth paid to land Ake might not be enough to sign Jorginho
Still, it's an ambitious move from Bournemouth, who have drafted in the aforementioned Ake, Connor Mahoney, Asmir Begovic and Jermain Defoe so far this summer.
