Borussia Dortmund Manager Gives Latest Update On Jadon Sancho Transfer

The Manchester United target won't be moving to the Premier League if Lucien Favre has anything to do with it.

Lucien Favre has put another dent in Manchester United's hopes of signing Jadon Sancho this summer, with the Borussia Dortmund manager claiming the club 'need' the forward.

Sancho potentially moving to United has been the long running transfer saga of the extended summer window and it looks no closer to being over.

Now the manager has joined Dortmund chiefs in pouring cold water over the idea of Sancho leaving the club this summer.

"We need him, no question. Everyone was happy that he stayed," Favre told Keystone-SDA, seemingly ending United's chances of signing the forward.

"We don't need to talk long about its qualities - they are enormous. He scores and sets up a lot of goals and can often make all the difference.

"But there are some details that Sancho needs to improve. That is quite normal for a 20-year-old."

Favre claiming that the club were glad to see that he was staying is hardly the ringing endorsement for United that the player might leave before the October 5th deadline day.

It comes off the back of the Bundesliga club claiming there was 'no chance' of him moving from the Westfalenstadion after United failed to agree to their terms before the team returned to pre season training last month.

Dortmund director Michael Zorc said in August, "We plan on having Jadon Sancho in our team this season, the decision is final. I think that answers all our questions," he stated.

"Last summer we adjusted the salary to the performance development of Jadon. In this context, we have extended the contract until 2023."

At that time fans pointed out that Zorc had said similar about Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ousmane Dembele before they left the club for Arsenal and Barcelona respectively.

However a lack of movement for Sancho's transfer has now seemingly left the Solskjaer's side looking at alternatives, with the club having only signed Donny van de Beek so far this summer.

Douglas Costa, Ivan Perisic, David Brooks and even Gareth Bale have all been rumoured to be on United's list of replacements, should Sancho not sign.
